Under the direction of Dyuto Komba, “Lumumba” was created in 1997 in Dar es Salaam, a coastal city in Tanzania. The country of Kilimanjaro maintains a historical connection with the Maritime Silk Routes, serving as a key stopover point.

Arab, Persian, Indian, and Chinese traders left their marks during their travels. A fusion of Indian, Arab, and African influences, Tanzania’s traditional music and dances are used to gain courage, communicate with ancestors, or celebrate life. The “ngoma,” a traditional drum, reigns supreme among the instruments.
