From the island of Salamina, near Athens, the “Λύκειο Ελληνίδων Σαλαμίνας” was established in 1982 as a branch of the central Lyceum of Greek Women of Athens.

The latter is an association founded in 1911 by the pioneer of feminism in Greece, Kallirrói Parrén, with the main objective of preserving and disseminating Greek cultural heritage.

The Silk Roads were first opened to the Western world by Alexander the Great. Silk production flourished during the Byzantine era in Greece,

making it a major center, and the activity continues in some regions to this day.
