AUGUST 16 TO 24, 2025
GROUPS 2025

POLAND
KRAKUS
Founded in 1949 at Krakow’s University of Science and Technology, Krakus is Poland’s oldest student folk ensemble. The group presents original folklore, adapted to the demands of the stage. It has over 200 costumes, some dating back to the 17th century. Krakus is presenting three of them in Freiburg, including the Highlanders’ mountain costume, made from cotton, wool and leather, and originating from the Beskid Żywiecki region.
Audiences will be able to discover the rich traditional culture of the regions of Małopolska (Lesser Poland), lively and spirited, Silesia, elegant and structured, as well as those of Rzeszów, which tell the story of the sub-Carpathian peoples. Krakus will be accompanied by a professional orchestra.
