Originating in the town of Kraljevo, located in central Serbia south of Belgrade, the KUD Abrašević association was founded in 1926. From its modest beginnings, it has grown considerably with over 400 members, enabling the formation of five children’s ensembles and the integration of numerous artistic disciplines such as folk dance, choral singing and ethnic vocal techniques, theater and drama, as well as folk music, led by ethno-choreographers and ethnomusicologists. Initially focusing on traditional songs and dances from the former Yugoslavia, the repertoire has grown over the years to include over 25 varied, award-winning choreographies.

Like Fribourg, Kraljevo organizes an annual international folklore festival, in which the children’s group is heavily involved.
