Ensemble Jahua Ñan
The Jahua Ñan ensemble - a name that means " Road from the Hights" in Quechua - is one of the twelve artistic groups of the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja (UTPL). They will be highlighting the richness and diversity of Ecuadorian culture, which is rooted in love for Pacha Mamà (Mother Earth). His dances also showcase the strong traditions of the Saraguro people, the only people in the Andean region of Loja who still speak the Kichwa dialect and who perpetuate their ancestral skills of wool spinning. Their traditional black and white costumes are reminiscent of the colours of the feathers of the Curiquingue bird, the symbol of Inca royalty.
