CIDAN Mi Perú is a cultural association founded in 1985 in Lima, which promotes traditional music and dance from Peru’s three main regions: the coast, the Sierra and the Amazon. Among its cultural expressions is Afro-Peruvian folklore, witness to the runaway slaves who took refuge in the Palenques, temporary spaces of freedom.

Agricultural dances, meanwhile, derive from productive activities practiced since Inca times, and express gratitude for abundant harvests. CIDAN Mi Perú will have us dancing to the rhythm of carnivals, true collective celebrations.

A fusion of indigenous Andean cultures and European traditions, there are hundreds of them, including the Huaytarino car- naval in Huancavelica, those of Chocorvos, Tinta, Ccachin, Sacuaya Moquegua and Colcabamba.
