Since 1967, the Dimitrije Koturović Association from Belgrade has been making an important contribution to the preservation and transmission of Serbian traditions, whether through its dance group, orchestra, choir or amateur theatre. In the Serbian language, the term «folk dance» originally referred to the playful movements of jumping, running and throwing objects – in short, to everything that is now related to sports games. Dynamic movements are characteristic of Dimitrije Koturović’s choreographies. These dances come from different regions of Serbia.
